Introduction: Whole School Safeguarding and Child Protection Training for School Governors (Level 1)
This short course is designed to give school governors a better understanding of key legislation, guidance and procedures relating to the safety and protection of children. Using International case studies and case reviews this course will give those attending an introduction to harm and abuse, knowledge of key warning signs and offer practical suggestions of how governing bodies provide support to the headteacher to continually improve safeguarding practices across a school.
This online training will provide information on how recruitment processes should comply with the principles of safer recruitment practice and to understand best practice guidelines for schools, academies and colleges The training will examine perpetrator behaviour and how the school can deter, identify and reject candidates who are unsuitable to work with children and prevent them from gaining employment. It examines the required pre-employment checks for school staff and practical tools to apply throughout the process.
Best practice indicates that Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) should have regular opportunities to reflect on and improve their practice. This essential update does just that; you will reflect on new research from this academic year that is pertinent to current issues in schools and identify how best to incorporate it into your practice.
