Mental Health and Wellbeing In Schools—Make It Count

 8 Dec 2021  Webinar

Webinar Description:

Join us for a very special webinar with our mental health trainers Nina Jackson and Sam Garner where we will spend the time answering your questions about mental health and wellbeing in schools. Perhaps you would like some practical suggestions about how to approach a particular mental health intervention in your school or strategies for managing student anxiety, stress or staff, and parent wellbeing. During this 30-minute session, Nina and Sam will draw on evidence-led approaches and examples from their latest books.

Presenter Biography: Nina Jackson

Few in education have the breathtaking grasp of Nina ‘Ninja’ Jackson about what makes classrooms, and those in them, tick. Winner of the IPDA International Prize for Education, the TES has described her as an ‘inspirational, evangelical preacher of education’. Nina’s particular gift is in working with SEN, the Gifted and Talented and engaging disaffected learners. As an international education consultant, she has worked with the Ministry of Education, UNESCO and UNICEF in Chile, Ghana, India, China, the Middle East and Europe. In her first book she shared her research on how music improves classroom learning and motivation. Her latest, the bestselling ‘Of Teaching, Learning and Sherbet Lemons: A Compendium of Careful Advice for Teachers’, has helped thousands of teachers put the ‘fizz’ back into the classrooms.

Presenter Biography: Sam Garner

As well as being a qualified mental health practitioner, Sam has worked in educational settings, Primary to Post 16, as a SENCo and Mental Health Specialist. This means she understands the real challenges faced in education on a daily basis – feedback often includes how Sam truly understands life ‘at the coal face’. She is passionate that SEN and Mental Health support does not have to be complicated or onerous, and that we can make a big difference in the lives of our young people. As a speaker Sam is lauded for her ability to entertain with her humorous perspectives on her experiences in education nationally and internationally. She has written a mental health programme that is being used in schools nationally and internationally, regularly writes for education magazines and has a book coming out soon.
