Description

Debbie Innes-Turnill is a lecturer in Advanced Child Protection Studies at the University of Birmingham, a safeguarding trainer, and the author of “Safeguarding in the Classroom”. She is also an experienced Safeguarding Consultant, supporting schools, charities, and sports organisations in their efforts to keep every child safe.

With nearly 30 years of experience as a teacher, Deputy Head, and educator across all age ranges—from early years to university level—Debbie deeply understands the safeguarding landscape. She specialises in translating complex safeguarding requirements into clear policies, practical procedures, and a positive safeguarding culture. Her work is grounded in real-world practice, offering schools and organisations realistic strategies and solutions to address various safeguarding and welfare issues.
