Course Overview

Delivered over 9 weeks, the course includes a range of self-directed modules and online events that enable new practitioners to engage with other colleagues while being guided by a course facilitator.

The course is based on the most up-to-date information and research pedagogies and delivered by some truly wonderful teachers, experienced professional development trainers and educational authors.

Throughout the course participants will be expected to put their learning into practice by participating in stimulating discussions with the rest of the cohort to demonstrate their understanding of key pedagogical practices and theories.

The course tutor will provide individual and group feedback and it’s recommended participants also receive in-school support from a Mentor, Coach or Head of Department.

Learning Aims

  • To establish ‘great teaching’ as a core habit in those with less than three years’ teaching experience through pedagogy and evidence-informed teaching and learning.
  • To effectively employ innovative teaching methods and practical strategies to support all learners and improve outcomes for all.
  • To assist teachers in moving from novice to expert practitioner status as effectively as possible.
  • To help schools train and retain excellent professionals.
  • To provide new teachers with an excellent study opportunity that is in line with the DfE Early-Career framework in support of a PGCE or IPGCE qualification.
