Building a Strong Safeguarding Culture in International Schools

In August, we delivered a webinar for Veema Leadership Hub members, exploring the key changes in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) September 2026, alongside important safeguarding practices that we encourage international schools to develop and embed. Safeguarding Resources

We often talk about building a strong safeguarding culture, but what does this actually mean?

As school leaders, we build the foundations for learning by ensuring that children are safe, happy and able to learn. Safety must always come first. The schools we work with understand that academic excellence and pupil wellbeing go hand in hand. They continually review and strengthen their safeguarding practices to make sure children are protected.

This video gives you a glimpse into how we approach safeguarding at Veema and some of the key messages we share with schools.

We believe essential safeguarding training should be relevant to each school’s context and, wherever possible, led by people within the school who understand its staff and pupils.

Our Veema Leadership Hub provides practical resources to support this, while external CPD providers offer specialist expertise and additional guidance when needed.

Ultimately, a strong safeguarding culture is about shared responsibility, with everyone understanding their role in keeping children safe.
