Martin Bailey

Martin Bailey has over 25 years’ experience as a Primary School Teacher and Computing Subject Leader in a range of schools across the UK. He currently works part-time at both Ellington Primary School in Northumberland and Birchwood.

Primary School in Tamworth, where he delivers elements of the Computing curriculum from EYFS to Year 6. Alongside these roles, he provides digital enrichment activities across the wider curriculum and oversees each school’s digital strategy.

Martin delivers bespoke pupil workshops and staff training on all aspects of Primary Computing and the effective use of technology in education. Having previously lectured at Durham University, Martin now teaches at Sunderland University, where he delivers the Computing element of the PGCE and BA teacher-training programmes.

He is an experienced conference presenter both in the UK and internationally, including multiple appearances at BETT and the SEND Show in London, and is a regular contributor to the educational press. Martin has served as a judge for the prestigious BETT and ERA Awards and has been a member of advisory boards for both BETT and NAACE (the National Association of Advisors for Computers in Education). He also maintains a strong presence across social-media platforms, where educators value his insights and practical approaches to using technology effectively in the classroom, and he is frequently interviewed on radio, television, and podcasts.

Recognised as a leading expert on the use of AI in education in the UK, Martin is at the forefront of pedagogical innovation, frequently demonstrating how generative technologies can transform learning. This passion for the future is reflected in his creative project, ‘North East Reanimated’, where he brings history back to life through the power of AI, and in his personal life, where he is the proud ‘doggy daddy’ to Byte, his AI dog.
